This weekend was beautiful again, with temperatures in the 80s and sunny skies, but the forecast suggests that this could really be the end of our extended summer so we set out to make the most of it. First up, a tour of the downtown heritage trail with visiting friends and the obligatory drink stop at Pracna's on Main. On Saturday, we hit the beach at Lake Calhoun, then watched a band and a showing of Bottle Rocket at the Lake Harriet Bandshell.
Sunday was the 37 mile Minneapolis Bike Tour all around the bike trail system - around the lakes, along the river and round the downtown. The race started at 7:30am, so the first hour was a bit groggy but once we got going the riding was fine and it was fun riding with so many people. They closed the roads so we all could go on the road rather than the bike trail we stopped for several water and snack breaks along the way to refuel. We finished in a respectable 4 hours! The beers provided at the end of the course were an excellent way to finish the course - fat tire has never tasted so good.

This looks like the most fun way to earn a fat tire ever! Wish I'd been riding with you.
