I celebrated Independence weekend by having all 4 wisdom teeth out, so it was a mostly quiet weekend with lots of icecream. We did take a day trip up to Duluth, as it was approaching 90 degrees in the city so a day by the shores of Lake Superior seemed like the perfect thing to so long as we could acquire a supply of soft food and cold drinks. Lake Superior is the largest of the Great Lakes, and so is the closest you can get around here to a day at the seaside! It is strange to see pine trees along the shore line though.

For the Fourth, we went down to the Minneapolis river front to watch the fireworks, then watched the Ten Second Film Festival, an audience judged showing of (very) short film. Winners tended to be the more quirky and funny rather than artistic and clever, but it was fun to see how much time ten seconds can be when watching such crowd pleasers as "sticks" and "cow sex".
